Teale's Top Ten: NYC Tourist Activities

Teale's Top Ten: NYC Tourist Activities

I receive messages pretty much almost everyday from people asking what they should do on their trip to New York City. NYC can be a daunting place to tackle as a tourist because there's just so much to see and do (and eat)! So I thought I would make up a little list of things I recommend people check out while visiting my glorious city. NYC truly is the greatest city in the world and I just want everyone to love it as much as I do!

Only in New York: New York City Marathon

Only in New York: New York City Marathon

The annual New York City Marathon was held on Sunday, November 5th and is the largest marathon in the world. Over 50,000 people run this epic race through all five NYC boroughs and this year our very own Babe Cave member, Kaleigh, joined them! (Not only is Kaleigh my life long best friend and roommate but she edits every single blog post for me.) It was incredibly inspiring and emotional watching her work towards and then accomplish such an epic goal. (This was her first marathon ever.) The cherry on top of this whole experience was that her twenty-sixth birthday was the very next day! There's truly almost nothing better than getting to cheer on your friends as they work hard to make their dreams come true.

Only in New York: 31st Annual Broadway Flea Market

One of my favorite Broadway events throughout the year was hands down the Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction. Every year, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS holds an annual flea market to raise money for their cause. At this year’s event onSunday, Sept. 24, all previous records were broken and $1,023,309 was raised! The Flea Market was held in Shubert Alley and along West 44th and 45th Streets. It is always such a beautiful day watching the Broadway community and thousands of loyal Broadway fans come together to support an organization we all believe in.

Only in New York: Stagedoor Manor Studios

Today’s post is about a place very near & dear to my heart: Stagedoor Manor. Stagedoor Manor is a legendary kid’s theatre camp in upstate New York that has been cranking out some of the brightest stars in entertainment since 1976. Actors including Natalie Portman, Robert Downey Jr., Ansel Elgort, and Lea Michele all got their start there as kids. For the first time ever, Stagedoor is expanding from just being a summer program and is holding three different weekend theatre intensives. I get questions almost every day about how to go about working on Broadway so I want to encourage students out there who are pursuing the arts as a professional career to seriously consider attending Stagedoor Studios.

Only in New York: New York Fashion Week

This was my third season dressing New York Fashion Week, and as I'm sure you can imagine, it is always a wild experience. This season I was given the opportunity to dress three shows: Carolina Herrera, Coach, and Delpoza. I thought it would be fun to show you guys pictures from my backstage experience and of the models I dressed this year. While I was sitting on the floor backstage by my rack of clothes at the Coach show James Franco walked right past me! I genuinely hope the childlike adrenaline and butterflies I get before dressing a fashion show never go away.
