Teale's Top Ten: Manhattan Rooftops

Hello hello my babes!

I am sorry I have been missing in action from my blog lately. Summer in the city is truly the craziest time of year -- people are always coming to visit, and everyone is obsessed with being outside. I guess you could say that instead of writing, I’ve been out doing research...which leads me to today's blog topic: my favorite rooftops!

01. Mr. Purple.

This rooftop bar in the Lower East Side is one of my favorites because of the panoramic view of the city. There's also a very Instagram-worthy pool, comfy couches and they serve frozen rose! What more does a girl need?! PLUS my favorite restaurant, The Meatball Shop, is right around the corner.

02. Refinery Rooftop.

This roof feels like you're walking into a magical garden party. And it has a phenomenal view of the Empire State Building. I think it's the perfect location for a romantic date or girls night!

03. Citizen M.

I love this hotel roof because it is literally right across the street from Wicked. It isn’t necessarily the coolest one on my list, but it is super convenient. I've spent many wonderful nights there with my cast after our show!

04. Le Bain.

This bar is located at the top of The Standard hotel in the Meatpacking District. I think it’s safe to say it is one of the most popular roofs in Manhattan, not only for the downtown view, but for the cool factor.

05. The Press Lounge.

I took LJ here for one of her birthday celebrations this year, and we absolutely loved it. Because it’s on 11th avenue, the view of the city is incredible. I especially love it because of the interesting history of the building - the building was originally a printing factory!

06. St Cloud Social Rooftop.

My parents flew into town and hosted a birthday party for me on this rooftop a few weeks ago. It was magical. The bar is on top of the Knickerbocker Hotel and is located on 42nd street right next to the building the New Year's Eve ball drops from! Plus the food is incredible. I can confidently say this because at my party my dad literally ordered one of everything on the menu!

07. Novotel.

Honestly, I was skeptical about this place because I hated the lobby so much. But once you venture through that area, the rooftop is pretty great because of the Times Square view.

08. Yotel.

This rooftop is cool because it isn’t in the heart of midtown and is a little more off the beaten path than other hotel bars. It makes me feel like I'm on vacation somewhere tropical.

09. PHD Terrace.

You all probably already know spending Thursday nights at the Dream Midtown is one of my favorite things because of Broadway Industry Night. This rooftop is fantastic because there are two different levels, three bars, and a beautiful view of Times Square. (Pro Tip: LJ and I have found that the best selfie lighting is in the women’s bathroom.)

10. Gallow Green.

This might be the coolest roof on my list. This restaurant bar sits on top of the McKittrick Hotel where the theatrical experience “Sleep No More” is held. The view honestly isn't great but the ambiance, down to the elevator ride, is absolutely enchanting and a little bit spooky.

I hope this list is helpful for your next New York adventure!

BTW these pictures were all taken at the Top of the Rock!
