Theater History: Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids (BCEFA) needs our support now more than ever.

Twice a year, the theatrical community comes together to raise money for BCEFA but due to the Broadway shut down, they are unable to participate in their regular post-show fundraising activities.

BCEFA helps men, women and children across the country receive life saving medications, health care, nutritious meals, counseling, and emergency financial assistance. They are one of the leading industry-based nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. Since 1988, they’ve raised more than $300 million and last year, the Broadway community raised $6 million!

In this time of crisis, BCEFA will help entertainment professionals meet coronavirus-related expenses, and will provide urgent resources for The Actors Fund, additional emergency financial assistance, health insurance, and counseling. The services are available to everyone in the performing arts and entertainment industry.

You can also donate directly to the Actor’s Fund. The Actor’s Fund fosters stability and resiliency and provides a safety net for performing arts and entertainment professionals.

The Actor’s Fund launched a new series “Stars in the House,” to encourage awareness and support within the industry. These daily online shows feature favorite stars singing and performing from their homes.

If you find it in your heart, please donate to BCEFA and The Actor’s Fund. They need our help and we’re all in this together!
